  • Speaker Bio: Andy Lanning, Owner/Trainer, Computer Software Training, LLC, Boise Idaho (See detailed bio attached)
  • Description: Data Visualization (Data Viz) is the visual transformation of a block of data and a simple chart, to an actual message delivered in a “publish worthy” format. The focus is on the message of the chart, and the presentation of the data, in order to affect decision making. It is ‘your’ responsibility to present data in the best manner possible. So are you serious about your data… or are you decorating?  In this presentation, you will view the before-and-after effects of good data visualization and will be provided with a handout on how to apply these steps to your own data. You will take away specific do’s and don’ts for best-practices of good Data Viz.
  • Learning Objectives: Attendees will be able to:
    • Recognize a designed chart vs a Microsoft default chart
    • Understand the theory of proper data-block layouts and why it affects your professional image and message
    • Learn the tips and tricks of applying these formats to your own data viz projects
